One rationale given for accelerating the Wiley addition project is that the gym is unsafe and has an OCR complaint (related to parking and a ramp) against it. This justification was offered in the Jan. 22 building & grounds committee meeting and again in the Feb. 12 school board meeting. Each time, legal staff stated that in fact the complaint had been resolved by the OCR’s acceptance of the construction timeline stated in the bond, and that are no compliance issues related to the gym that present any urgency for the project.
